The Creation Care Ministry calls Camp Chapel to God’s command to God’s people that we be stewards of God’s creation – the earth and all that it contains. We care for the environment in which we live, the plants and animals that inhabit it, and for each other, for all creation is an expression of God’s love for us, God’s children.
Each year fifty to sixty houses are repaired by BCCW volunteers throughout the county. These work sites are typically referred by various county offices or departments, as well as by churches and other groups.
There is something unique about Music and its power to convey the Gospel message. The music program at Camp Chapel includes a spiritually grounded volunteer choir that sings weekly at the 11:00 am traditional worship service. Their rehearsals are held Thursdays at 7:30 pm.

“Chapel Bells”, a five octave handbell choir, rehearses on Mondays at 7:30 pm and provides preludes, offertories and sometimes postludes at the 11:00 am worship service once a month.

Both choirs provide music for the special services at Christmas, Lent and Easter. They also perform a Christmas and a Spring concert along with talented instrumentalists from the congregation.
The music program sponsors several guest artist concerts during the year that include a variety of genres.
The Garden Ministry has allowed members to honor God in a very special way. Each person has adopted a section of the church’s gardens or landscape to nurture and oversee its care.
As a result, beautiful flowers, trees, and shrubs surround His house of worship, giving God the honor and glory for all of nature and His creation.
Our Support Ministry works with several local organizations supporting individuals and families. Organizations we sponsor include Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).
Each year Camp Chapel conducts a Blessing of the Animals service in the fall. Pet owners from the congregation and also from the surrounding community participate, and all are welcome.
We present each pet with a certificate of blessing and a St. Francis Prayer card.
United Methodist Volunteers In Mission (UMVIM) is a grassroots movement within The United Methodist Church designed to provide an official channel for volunteer service.
Through UMVIM, Christians (lay and clergy) can offer their skills and talents for service in their home country and around the world on short-term assignments at their own expense. Camp Chapel has supported teams who helped restore homes damaged by natural disasters in New York, West Virginia, South Carolina, Louisiana, New Jersey and Maine. Camp Chapel also participates in the Baltimore County Christian Work Camp bcchristianworkcamp.org which supports needy families in the area.
The Churches for Streets of Hope (CSOH) is a 501C that was created by several dedicated Christians 10 years ago when several men In Essex froze to death in the streets. More than 30 churches support CSOH. In addition to supplying and serving meals on the 14th of each month, the Camp Chapel furniture ministry has supplied multiple CSOH clients with furniture and household goods. The congregation of Camp Chapel had also been very generous by supplying warm coats in the winter, gift cards for Christmas gifts and many other donations. Camp Chapel also sends a monthly stipend to CSOH that goes into a specific fund that supplies funds for security deposit and first month rent as the clients are able to move into housing.
Our Pillow Ministry volunteers have supplied heart-shaped pillows since December, 2000, to patients recovering from heart surgeries at Union Memorial Hospital and lung and thoracic surgeries at Franklin Square Hospital. We extended our project to making rectangular-shaped TLC pillows to help patients at Franklin Square Hospital who were healing from abdominal and cesarean section surgeries.
To date, we have touched over 20,000 patients with our pillows! This simple act of kindness has brought joy to people recovering from invasive surgeries while helping to ease their pain and we believe our pillows spread God’s love in a caring, practical way.
When moving from homelessness into a new home, families can often end up living in a nearly empty house. This community outreach ministry provides gently-used, donated furniture to recently relocated homeless families and individuals in the Baltimore and Baltimore County areas
Items we accept for donation include:
Dressers, dining room tables and chairs, sofas, coffee tables, end tables, chairs/recliners, nightstands, lamps, rugs, small appliances in working order (toaster, microwave, vacuum cleaner, fan, etc.), housewares (dishes, cookware, eating and cooking utensils, cups, glasses, etc.), and clean linens and bedding (towels, washcloths, sheets, blankets, and comforters).
Donated items must be “gently used” or in good enough condition that you would feel comfortable giving to a friend or family member that you will see again. Rugs and upholstered furniture MUST come from smoke and pet free households.
Our ministry works directly with referring social service agencies. Please have your social worker or case worker complete the Client Authorization Form and return the completed form to the church office. The form can be submitted online using the submit button at the bottom or downloaded, scanned, and emailed to the office (office@campchapel.org).
